Walking with Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park

Everyone remembers the famous movie scene. The iconic music playing as John Hammond, Alan Grant, and Ellie Sattler stand up in their brightly coloured jeep and stare in amazement as a 25 metre Brachiosaurus lumbers by in the distance. Truly this was one of the most magical moments in cinematic history and one of the key scenes from 1993’s movie hit Jurassic Park.

But before a movie was ever conceived, famous author Michael Crichton had worked on the idea of a screenplay about a dinosaur that had been cloned from fossil DNA. After a couple of re-writes, the theme park notion was locked in and the story was set to be told from the adult character’s perspective.

In 1989, Steven Spielberg learned about Crichton’s novel. By May of the next year, Universal Studios had picked up the rights to the movie and was set on having Spielberg involved.

As they say, the rest is history. The financial successes of the franchise lead to the development of not only a sequel to the original Jurassic Park, called The Lost World: Jurassic Park, but also Jurassic Park III, and more recently Jurassic World which was released in two thousand and fifteen.

But fans of the franchise should keep their eyes and ears open as two more films have been announced, one of which will be launched in 2018 and one film that has not yet had its release date announced, is set to be forthcoming.

Since the initial launch of the movies, there have been several licensed games that have been released. These games include Jurassic Park slot machine by Microgaming. This five reel and 243 Ways to Win slot has had much of the same success as its silver screen cousins. Let’s have a look at what it brings to the table!

The first thing that stands out about this slot is its superb graphics. The background is dynamic and looks like an actual scene from the movie. We are treated to dynamic lighting and movement in an ever-changing scene that brings the player straight into the action. Fully animated dinosaurs virtually pop out of the screen to highlight certain game elements, such as wilds.

Along with the background animation, all of the dinosaur symbols are also animated. The realism is uncanny and it works to bring the player that much closer to being inside a movie set or on a dinosaur island in the middle of the ocean.  Even the characters from the movie, Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Ian Malcolm, Dr. Allan Grant and Jurassic Park’s owner, John Hammond make an appearance the symbols are also animated from scenes from the movie.

Dinosaur symbols include a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Brachiosaurus, a Triceratops, a Velociraptor and Dilophosaurus. The Jurassic Park logo serves as a wild while the famous mosquito trapped in amber functions as the scatter symbol for this slot.
