Being a celebrity may not be as easy as some believe. But one advantage it certainly has is the enormous pay cheques that come your way. From actors to football stars, and cosmetics creators, these were, according to Forbes, the top 10 highest paid celebrities between June 2017 and June 2018.
1. Floyd Mayweather
The Mayweather versus McGregor fight had the world paying attention to boxing again. It also earned Mayweather a sum of money that can only be described as outrageous. Around $285 million to be exact. No wonder it was nicknamed ‘The Money Fight’!
2. George Clooney
Clooney is known for acting, but earned the majority of his fortune from a tequila company. After founding Casamigos, he and friends sold the tequila brand for a cool $700 million. Clooney’s take was about $239 million.
3. Kylie Jenner
Although earning slightly less than Clooney for the year range looked at for this list, Kylie Jenner of Kardashian/Jenner fame, is worth a net total of around $900 million. This would be thanks to her cosmetics range, Kylie Cosmetics.
4. Judy Sheindlin
Better known as Judge Judy, Judy Sheindlin is an often-overlooked giant in the world of television. Her show has been running for 22 seasons, earning the lady roughly $47 million a year. Her net worth is estimated to be about $400 million and the average person would have to spend a lot of time winning big at an online casino to see the type of money this celebrity judge is pulling in.
5. Dwayne Johnson
With around $124 million in his pocket for the year, Dwayne Johnson earns a killing from his acting roles. It is his social media promotional deals, however, that earns him more than could possibly be negotiated for a simple acting role.
The seemingly immortal band went on tour, drawing the attention of about 2.7 million fans from around the world. This raked in around $316 million, proving that a band this popular is never going to lose the ability to generate some serious cash. Add to this the release of Songs of Experience back in December, and you have your sixth place celebrity earners.
Sticking with immortal bands, Coldplay are almost never not on tour, at least as far as the last two years are concerned. A staggering $500 million was earned during that period, which makes it one of the most successful tours in history.
8. Lionel Messi
He plays football and his salary is enough to make a person give up their day job and attempt to learn a few ball kicking skills of their own. But this is just the start of it for Messi. Sponsorship deals include Pepsi, Adidas and many other big names that pay him a pretty penny to be the face of their brand. For the June-to-June period he earned around $111 million.
9. Ed Sheeran
A solo musician that has taken online song streaming to the next level, Sheeran has around $110 million in his bank, thanks to the power of the Internet. Don’t think he won’t climb the list, however, as rumour has it he is taking aim at an acting career, with a cameo in Game of Thrones already under his belt.
10. Cristiano Ronaldo
Likely eager to catch up with Messi, Ronaldo is just a few places down at number 10. His yearly earnings are still very impressive at $108 million. With Messi dominating the Adidas game, Ronaldo got his sponsorship deal with Nike. And, don’t forget he also has an outrageous 322 million followers on various social media platforms, which means that even after he is too old to kick a ball about, he will likely still be raking in millions simply by hitting the upload button!
